Products and services emerging from within WellTech began with health and biometric tracking via Fitbits and Apple watches, for example, but are quickly moving towards whole health integration that moves beyond any one wearable, supplement or tracker towards a personalised, holistic approach.

The right technology can streamline operations, making processes more efficient and cost effective. For instance, in the wellness industry, wearable devices and health apps are empowering individuals to take control of their health by tracking their fitness levels, sleep patterns and eating habits. With the addition of advanced analytics and AI, these technologies can provide real time data and personalised insights, enabling users to make informed decisions about their overall health and wellness.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is at the heart of this transformation. AI technologies are powering personalisation and scale for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), offering scalable platforms that facilitate substantial growth. AI’s capability to analyse vast amounts of data enables it to deliver personalised experiences for consumers. For example, AI-driven skincare solutions can recommend products tailored to an individual’s skin type, climate, environmental conditions and preferences. This can be applied to a range of other businesses offering everything from supplements to coaching and advice.

During the latest edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, key players and company strategists emphasised AI’s role in personalisation during the CosmoTalks inspirational roundtables. Robin Raskin, Founder of Virtual Events Group, highlighted, “The keyword in AI development is personalisation. Everything that you see in high-tech allows you to have the right combination of materials just for your skin, for your climate, for your polluted environment. AI is trained on every possible skin and environment condition, and it can provide any possible product recommendation, but this is just AI for consumers.”

From a business perspective, AI can assist in product ideation, sustainable material sourcing and packaging design. It encapsulates human knowledge in a searchable form, enabling companies to innovate and operate more sustainably, all while scaling their operations.

The digital transformation of primary and support activities — things like sales and marketing —  is reshaping traditional business models. Companies are adopting digital tools to enhance their customer engagement, streamline operations and optimise supply chains. This shift towards digitalisation is creating a new economy that emphasises the digitalisation of all business activities.

Rachel Weiss, an Early Stage VC Investor at L’Oréal USA BOLD Ventures, recently stated, “AI is going to create a new culture around beauty, new insights and new brands, as well as new ways to do marketing on beauty. We are already seeing what AI can do in terms of health and wellness. AI is changing how we work, the way we are doing research and how we are discovering what’s new.”

The convergence of technology and wellness is not just a trend — it’s a paradigm shift that will redefine how we approach health, beauty and wellbeing.

Companies that invest in innovative solutions that enhance personalisation, improve operational efficiencies and drive sustainable practices will emerge as the winners in this race. The integration of AI, the digitalisation of business models and the rise of WellTech are transforming how we approach self care and beauty.
