In a strategic move to reimagine the way people engage with skincare and wellness products, Edible Beauty has launched Ava, its first AI-supported agent. This AI-driven tool embodies the expertise of Edible Beauty’s founder, Anna Mitsos, while leveraging potentially thousands of data points to deliver personalised advice and product recommendations.

“Ava represents an exciting opportunity for shareholders. The concept, as well as its fit within the Edible Beauty business and fast deployment are promising signals in executing on the group’s AI enablement strategy,” says LV1 chairman David Brudenell.

What is an AI skin and wellness consultant?

An AI skin and wellness consultant is a digital tool designed to replicate the expertise and personalised advice of a human expert. For Edible Beauty, this means scaling Anna’s wealth of knowledge and experience as a naturopath and skin consultant to reach a broader audience, ultimately making quality skincare advice accessible to everyone.

“The POC [proof of concept] has been fairly light touch for me,” says Mitsos. “Ava writes like I would to a customer, which is very exciting as I can scale my personalised approach and process with many more people. In these POC areas, the team can now work on other activities to grow the business. It’s also exciting to think that this intelligence is based on all of the data in our company. I’m looking forward to having more AI roles in the company.”

By leveraging AI, Edible Beauty can now deliver customised skincare and wellness expertise to more people, ensuring that a broader market can benefit from the insights and recommendations that were previously available only through one-to-one consultations.

Ava engages users by asking detailed questions about their skin type and routine, encouraging them to share any specific concerns or queries. Based on this interaction, it generates a personalised skincare plan, complete with product recommendations and explanations for each choice, highlighting how each product addresses the user’s unique needs.

Ava securely accesses multiple types of data from Edible Beauty, including direct API integration of Shopify, Xero, Calendly, Klavio and Google Sheets. A range of ad hoc sources such as tone of voice, historical PDFs, Powerpoint presentations, meeting transcripts, .csv files, customer emails and service interactions have also been integrated to create high context data for the AI agent.

This ensures that Ava’s interactions with users are not only informative but also consistent with the brand’s style.

Ava represents the first proof of concept for the Decidr technology platform. Decidr enables businesses to deliver personalised, AI-driven solutions across various business functions and tasks.
